Tax inspections are provided for those already participating in the Forest Management
Agreement program. The Department of Assessments and Taxation requires an inspection
every 3 years or the next time your tax district comes up for reassessment, whichever is
sooner.  These need to be performed by a Licensed  Forester.  The inspection itself consists
of a visit to your woodland to see what practices, if any,  have been carried out in the past
three years.   The list of recommended practices in your written management plan determines
what you are required to do under the agreement.  As long as these are carried out in a timely
manner you are considered in compliance.  There is some latitude involved as to when some
of the practices need to be carried out which can be discussed during the inspection visit.
The charge for an inspection is normally $75.00.     Call or send an email to arrange a visit or
for more information.
